Intake
A paper arrives, from inbox, upload, or webhook. The watcher gives it a number and a queue place.
§ lens · syfers
Lens is the federation's document instrument. It watches an inbox, accepts uploads, and quietly carries each paper through five plates, until it is classified, translated, and committed.
§ Five plates · one press
A paper arrives, from inbox, upload, or webhook. The watcher gives it a number and a queue place.
OCR for scans, parse for native PDF. Text and metadata extracted. Roughly thirty seconds.
Sonnet 4 reads, picks a pillar, writes a short reason, names alternatives. Below 0.65 confidence → human.
EN · PT · ES. Source language stays authoritative; the other two are machine-translated and marked so.
sdi-bot pushes to docs/2026/<pillar>/, with frontmatter and audit-trail. The SHA appears everywhere.
§ Four pillars · one repository
Ecology, orchards, kitchen gardens, composting, the slow practice of paying attention to a place.
Social, care-circles, gatherings, conversations. The pillar of being together.
Economy, cooperative contributions and the slow ledger that keeps the federation honest with itself.
Cross, anything that crosses pillars. Held for a careful second eye.
Documents move through the press in order, Intake, Convert, Classify, Translate, Commit. The press is patient. When the classifier's confidence drops below 0.65, a document waits for a human eye. The federation prefers slow correctness over fast guessing.
Every signed step lands in the audit log. Every committed document appears in the docs repository, in three languages, with frontmatter that says what we know and where it came from.
Lens ends each document with a commit to github.com/syntrociety/syntrociety-docs. That repository is the canonical memory, append-only, signed, public-readable for federation members. If you want to know what the federation knows, read the repo.
Most formats work, PDF, ODT, DOCX, scanned image. The press will tell you what it does next. You can leave the door any time; nothing will be processed without your consent.
